ABOUT US

The Naked Dairy, a picturesque little farm nestled among hills in the Waitetuna Valley. Waitetuna meaning “water of the eel”, is a valley off SH23 about halfway between Hamilton & Raglan. We are a traditional small family farm of about 160 Hectares

Mike - The Farmer

Farming is his life blood. He grew up on farms as did his parents and their parents. On leaving school he worked at home and on other farms, before buying a farm of his own in the Waitetuna Valley.

He has been fortunate enough to travel , and yes, work on farms in other countries as well.
The mutual sharing of knowledge with local and overseas organic farmers has been a great benefit and he loves learning and sharing new ideas.

Madeline - The Farmer’s Wife

Grew up in the city. Her studies involved animals and the environment, so perhaps it is no big surprise that her transition to farming was a natural one. Like Mike, she has travelled, however it didn’t involve working on farms.

She wouldn’t choose to live anywhere else, however every now and again she does enjoy a city fix.
Madeline takes care of the administrative side of the business but still gets out on the farm as much as possible.

Dan - The Farmer (the one that does most of the work!)

Wasn’t born to farming, but has a natural ability with animals and farm management.

Dan and his wife Amy worked on farms in NZ and Ireland. After returning home Dan continued to farm with generally large herds. He joined the team in 2011, and has enjoyed the benefits of farming a small herd in a natural farming system.
